Studio Practice
Photography
Getting the opportunity to work with film, digital and DSLR cameras, as well as photo editing software like photoshop has given me the opportunity to explore and refine my own visual style, as I try to capture the transient and ephemeral qualities of people and places, working through themes of relationships, family, time, nostalgia and location.
Film Photography
Capturing moments of intimacy and liminal time, inspired by the great point-and-shoot photographers of the 20th century like Nan Goldin
DSLR Photography
Learning to work with DSLR cameras has been a difficult but rewarding experience, learning how to adjust specific setting to create an exact chosen visual environment. I developed my technique to include double / long exposures, inspired by photographers like Vivian Maier and Harry Callahan, to emphasise a feeling of suspended time, memory / nostalgia, and displaced locations in my work.
